Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toniz Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American broadcaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN and is an anchor of SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the child of the journalist on television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is a bilingual woman and has been so since when she was nine years old. Her ability in this area allowed her to land her first position at Univision, Miami. She was able to work with national producers on programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Her next assignment was reporter for sports at the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009 she moved in Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. She was born November 22 the 22nd of November, 1985, in Mexico City. She also has an older sister. The family in 1992 left Mexico and moved to Miami. Within a brief time her father separated from her mother. She then remarried in 1995 a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died of kidney cancer in 2006. The summer vacation that she stayed with her younger sister living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured an employment. Antonietta, a high-school senior with an idea of what she thought her future would be like, visited Mount Union University to see whether the university was suitable for her. As it turned out she was a fan of the university and that they had the kind of program she was searching for. She completed her schooling and was admitted to the university with a degree studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor was also the station director of WRMU (91.1 FM), where she belonged. He encouraged her to be self-confident and his passion for journalism deeply influenced her, and she was determined to live up to his standards and never fail him.
